Although I could probably rant for days or even weeks about why I love the goggle boys as individuals, I'll focus on why I like them as a pair for now. ^_~ Taichi is Daisuke's idol, his senpai (upperclassman), soccer tutor, and friend. Taichi gives Daisuke both his goggles and his role as leader of the Chosen Children in the first episode of 02. Daisuke mentions that Taichi has told him about the Digital World before, so they obviously spend some time one-on-one. To Daisuke, Taichi is just cool. And to Taichi, Daisuke is a cute fanboy, a friend, and someone he obviously looks after very closely.
